A
childhood interest in drawing and color gave Katerina Ring
an early
start in the pursuit
of becoming a painter. In the Design Department of The University
of California Davis, Ring focused on graphics and textiles,
studying and interning with some of America’s most
recognized designers and textile artists. After six years
of working in
the computer graphics and animation fields in northern California,
Ring moved to Europe with a change of focus and direction,
leading to her devotion to the fine arts.
Since 1996 Ring has been studying painting: watercolor, pastel
and oil, mostly in Germany, Italy, and the western USA either
through established art academies & universities or privately,
concentrating on “seeing”, line and color theory.
She has travelled all over Europe studying the masters and contemporary
artists and is mostly influenced by Horst Janssen, Hundertwasser
and contemporary plein air
painters. |

Katerina was born in Coronado, California, but
lived in Virginia, Hawaii, Belgium and Germany. She painted in
Cortona, Italy for 5 years and now has her studio in Lucca, (near
Pisa). Three to six months a year, the artist is in Zambia, volunteering
at Luyobolola Community School* in Mazabuka and painting near
S. Luangwa National Park. Katerina is represented by galleries
in Italy, the UK, USA and Zambia and her paintings are in private
and public collections the world over.
